Iran Rebar Price Today | IME Raises Steel Advance Payment to 100%

Iran Steel Market Faces New Controls as Rebar Jumps 20.9% and Billet Prices Keep Rising

The Iran steel market on October 6, 2026 has entered a new phase after a sharp rise in rebar and billet prices. Starting today, the Iran Mercantile Exchange has raised the required advance payment for purchases of DRI, steel bloom and billet, several beam categories, and most rebar grades to 100%, a move designed to manage demand and reduce excessive competition. Iran rebar prices remain under strong upward pressure

Latest Iran rebar prices today show that the rally has not yet ended. Esfahan Steel’s 12 mm A3 rebar has reached around 125,000 tomans per kilogram, while Kashan 18 mm A3 is near 119,550 tomans and Ghaem Razi 12 mm rebar has surged to approximately 117,820 tomans per kilogram. Vana News

The exchange market is sending an even stronger signal. Around 44,288 tonnes of commonly used construction rebar were offered on October 4, with nearly 99% of the volume sold after matching transactions were included. The weighted average rebar price reached approximately 104,580 tomans per kilogram, representing a 20.9% weekly increase. Chilan Online

Steel billet prices add further cost pressure

The latest steel billet transactions in Iran also show strong upward momentum. Approximately 59,800 tonnes were offered, with 99.8% of supply sold. The weighted average billet price reached about 87,477 tomans per kilogram, up roughly 9.6% week on week. Chilan Online

This matters for rolling mills because higher billet prices directly increase the production cost of rebar, beams and other long steel products. Even if construction demand remains relatively cautious, elevated raw-material costs can prevent finished-steel prices from falling quickly.

The decision to raise advance payments to 100% is therefore an important market-development signal. The requirement had previously been lower and was gradually increased before reaching the current level. The objective is to reduce speculative or highly leveraged demand and limit intense bidding in the steel value chain. Chilan Online

The real impact of the measure will become clearer in upcoming trading sessions. If buyer competition falls, the pace of increases in Iran steel billet and rebar prices could slow. If demand remains strong despite full advance-payment requirements, however, the market could receive another bullish signal.

Currency movements also remain critical. The Iranian free-market dollar continues to trade at elevated levels, increasing replacement costs and supporting the export value of steel products. This means domestic steel prices are currently being influenced by both physical market fundamentals and macroeconomic expectations. Vana News

Overall, the Iranian iron and steel market is now being shaped by three major forces: rising billet and rebar prices, currency pressure, and tighter demand-management measures on the Iran Mercantile Exchange.

For buyers, contractors and traders, the key indicators to watch are Iran rebar price today, steel billet prices, Iran Mercantile Exchange bidding levels and currency movements. These factors will determine whether the current rally continues or the market moves into a more stable phase.
