Iran Steel Market Today | 92,000 Tonnes of Billet Offered as Rebar Prices Rise

Iran Steel Market Faces a Major Test as 92,000 Tonnes of Billet Hit the Exchange and Rebar Prices Rise
The Iran steel market entered a key trading session on September 28, 2026, as approximately 98,150 tonnes of steel-chain products were offered on the Iran Mercantile Exchange. More than 92,000 tonnes of the total volume consisted of steel billet, while selected rebar products continued to move higher in the domestic market. Madan News
Today’s offerings included around 87,600 tonnes of 150 mm billet, 4,000 tonnes of 200 mm billet, additional 120 mm and 125 mm billet volumes, and 5,500 tonnes of hot-rolled coil. The unusually large billet offering makes today’s session an important test of real demand at the beginning of the new Iranian month. Madan News
At the same time, rebar prices in Iran have shown renewed strength. Selected A3 products from major producers recorded increases of between roughly 1,000 and 4,000 tomans per kilogram, including products from Esfahan Steel, Bafgh Yazd and Ghaem Razi. However, the rise is not uniform across the market, as weak end-user demand continues to limit the pace of price growth. تجارت نیوز
The latest weekly exchange data also reveal a notable divergence across the steel value chain. Direct reduced iron prices fell about 10.4% despite full absorption of the offered volume, billet prices increased only around 0.2%, while average rebar prices gained approximately 2.6% with nearly 98% of the offered material sold. اقتصاد فارسی
This gap suggests that rebar pricing is being driven by more than raw-material costs alone. Currency movements, replacement costs, inventory levels and buyer expectations are increasingly influencing the finished-steel market, even as upstream prices remain relatively mixed.
Market participants will therefore be watching today’s billet trading results closely. Strong absorption and competitive bidding could support finished-steel prices, while weaker demand at current levels could reduce upward pressure in the coming sessions.
Overall, the Iranian iron and steel market is entering October without a single clear trend. Billet supply, rebar prices, foreign-exchange movements and construction demand will all play a key role in determining the next direction of the market.
